Default Latest Bakkie Shootout - CAR Magazine

I see Auto Amarok still rules over its peers, including all the new comers and face lifted vans.
Was a bit surprised at its poor performance numbers though, a bit of a slow one?

Remember the Amarok is the only one with permanent 4x4. It should take some speed away.

Car Bakkie shootout was done with a Auto Amarok and the Leisure Wheels test was done with a manual Amarok.

    Hallo Albert,

Ek veronderstel jy is Andre se seun?

So...off you go!...hoop ek sien meer Amarokke hierdie jaar in die CKGR en Etosha a s voorheen...dis mos veel makliker as om hindernisse te ry soos Andre ons weekliks wysmaak...

True.... but let me qualify my earlier statement. The Amarok 4x4 system is great, probably the best of the breed. But, like the Ranger, the Amarok is very long and very wide so clearance and break over angle becomes the limiting factor. So not an indictment of the 4x4 system's ability, rather the dimensions of the vehicle.

Good test and good result once again for the Amarok.
The double cab market is really boiling at the moment.
The facelifted version should fair better but obviously with their limited range sales figures will remain stagnant.

After spending the weekend in a new Ford ranger I have to say that it surprised be by obtaining third place, I really like the facelifted Ford. The sync 3 system is second to none and what you would expext in this price range.
Range is also very broad with lots of solid, cheaper options.

Hilux dissapointed with tow test, but still a solid offering and buy.

They did not mention it in the test for the Hilux, with those figures so far off, I would say (hopefully) not.

Same can be asked of The Ford's S mode.
In the Hilux they probably selected 'R' for racing 😜

The Hilux " power" mode gives no more power whatsoever but fullfills the same function as the " sport" mode in other vehicles. Calling it a " power " mode is misleading.

    Overall not a bad shootout...
Amarok not my cup-o-tea, but that's subjective....
Triton surprised - buyers take note!!! Navara disappointed - really a pity!!!
Hilux - YAWN - Tupperware is so yesteryear !!!
Facelift Ranger so much better than "non-facelifted Mazda" - Fact!!!
Isuzu - last but the most honest one!!!

Why? I actually thought it would have aided acceleration etc?
