    Taken in Cape Town, I think between Loop & Breë Streets, on either Short- or Longmarket Streets. It was the reflection of a shopfront across the street.

    The engineer, fireman and a third man all died instantly, sadly. I watched a short documentary on this even just a few days ago. They were going uphill and let some steam out, to increase temperature in the steam tubes. As the gradient increased, they realised they needed more steam - and pumped ice cold water into the red hot tubes, causing the fatal explosion that was felt well over a mile away.

    Thank you, I thought it might have been in the last few pages but gave up searching after browsing the previous 5 pages .

    Must have been one hell of an explosion, would not like to have been anywhere near there when that happened!
