Did a drone really capture an image of Mt. Susitna, Alaska's "Sleeping Lady"? No, that's not true: The image that is sweeping the Internet was created by a digital artist using Photoshop or other sophisticated software. Users are sharing it and claiming it was taken from a drone, but the original artist is not mentioned or credited.
The post has received thousands of shares, comments and engagements, but the picture is not real.
The photo was created by Jean-Michel Bihorel, a digital artist, and is titled "Winter Sleep." You can see the original work on his online portfolio, as well as a gallery site in which the artist has interacted with commenters.

I've seen some interesting hobbies, but this one takes the cake...

The Koana Islands lie south of the equator, between Madagascar, Indonesia and Australia. The archipelago includes 32 islands, with a total of 93 million residents. The reason you've not heard of it before is that it does not really exist. The nation was invented by an Australian train driver called Ian Silva, and the incredible maps he has produced of the islands are well worth investigating.

    Zoom-worthy....so here is a larger version: https://stag-komodo.wired.com/images.../Koana_map.png

    More detail here, and here.

The more you look at it, the more you realise the amount of work and time that must've gone into this... e.g. just look at the place names. They don't really look like any I've heard before. So I assume he actually invented new place names as well. And there are MANY....

It's crazy...but cool nonetheless. I sometimes wish I had this amount of time on my hands.
