Disappointed in whoever thought this to be a great idea. Just more single use plastic.

Clever yet I fully agree. Like plastic caps on milk cartons. More of a convenience than a necessity.

There have been many fast cars that pushed the envelope over the years. However, I reckon my favourite has to be the McLaren F1. I still remember seeing pictures of this the first time when I was still in primary school...it was like a space ship! I just couldn't wrap my head around how fast this thing really was....beautiful.

For me it's the Lockheed SR-71 of the car world. No super fancy electronics, no traction control, no gimmicks, just light with much power. I've always liked the central driving position, and the fact that it's a super car that can take 3 people and it actually has some decent luggage space. All in a car capable of 370km/h+. It was the world's fastest road-legal, production car for something like 10 years before being officially dethroned by the Veyron in 2007 (there were other cars in between - but those were very...uhm...loose with the term "road-legal" and "production" ).

Gold in the engine bay (because it dissipated heat the best at the time), a fuel cell that needs to be replaced every 5 years at a cost of 80,000, a fire extinguisher which needed to be replaced at 800 per pop and tyres which McLaren quoted a customer 40,000 to replace....

Jay Leno has quite a few videos on his own car, which he daily drove for a long time. Check out this video from about 15 minutes in to see the car apart, and to hear what this thing sounds like without the muffler! (also see the fuel cell being removed) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0gPayVLLJk - turn up the volume....

This video from Doug De Munro also is about Jay Leno's F1, and it has a lot of interesting info in it, also showing luggage compartments, etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkYVXIWAPnc I love his facial expression at 33:08 when Leno floors it the first time. Spinning the tyres in 4th...with 3 people in the car...

Anyway....here's the picture that sent me on this video watching binge...from McLaren's US Service centre: https://www.carthrottle.com/post/the...-jaw-dropping/
