Stripped all hinges and galvanized bits and pieces today.
    The doors still look good.

    Bit of progress today.
Gearbox fitted, it took about 4 minutes to fit the gearbox
Seems easy without all the goodies around it.

The next job is to try and get the older style air cleaner mounted.
This S1 never came with one mounted.
I got this one from a friend. I will look see on my S3 how it is mounted.

There’s a “framework” which bolts onto the battery tray (steering column runs underneath it”

Greg, the air cleaner in the photo looks like one from a Series 2A or 3. The Series I air cleaner was shorter to clear the bonnet. Just make sure that the one you have will clear the bonnet when you make a frame to fit the air cleaner.

Decided before starting with the body i needed to check all panels.
The rear cross member is a new genuine part.
The Bulkhead / Firewall is a second spare one.
Only place i am not 100% happy is the rear tub mounting plates, few mm too far in.
But its not bad. Need to check if the front tub mounts must face front or rear.
So when dropping the tub must the front tub mounts be hidden behind the inner tub or see the mounts from set area.

    The reason for the update
I have found another S1 and will go and do final arrangements on Sunday
    And i have no space
The picture posted is not the exact one but to show a very very similar one with same patina
It is virtually identical and i WANT IT.

    Update:
All shocks, done with some other items finished.
Found new diff breathers and some other stuff.
Body will be tackled now, all parts in for light sand blast then galvanizing.
After testing the engine and gearbox on tresles i have a major problem with the rear output shaft. OIL

Just be careful with sandblasting aluminium panels.

I know a guy that buggered up his doors.
