"If I can have only one I would choose the normal skottel, it is more versatile."

    Care to explain in short.

You can deep fry in a skottel, also make a large meal in one session if having to feed many. Apart from the normal stuff.

My view is that it is one tool in the tool box and to discount it as being useful would be a serious injustice. As with any method, it has its advantages and disadvantages:

    Advantages:

    • Large cooking area
    • Gets hot quickly
    • Varying temperature control
    • Varying heat bands up and down the disc
    • Easy and relatively inexpensive to use
    • Portable
    • Clean to use
    • Can be used for stirfrys, deep fries, searing, (some of the best seared steaks and tjops I have had have been on the skottel) using a round dome and a round rack turns it into a capable oven and juices collect in the bottom where you can place taters and veg for roasties, steaming veg
    • Disc can be used on other heat sources (the older ones like mine can)

    Disadvantages:

    • Bulky to a degree
    • Initial cost
    • ?

Yeah, so with experimentation and some adventurism these are very versatile dinguses

Thanks a lot. I think I get it. You just have to manage the "up- & down hills" to your advantage.
