    A store bought loaf with European heritage had the top sliced off, drizzled with oil, garlic and origno. Deksel goes on the make crispy.

    The loaf goes in for just a little while, basically to firm up a bit. Then the nyama goes on, layered with grated cheddar, sweet chilli sauce and feta.

    I often made this for The Blonde when she visited me in Far far away land and tonight she said this is what she would like for supper when she gets back from lecture.

    Same thing....sosatie is South African and espetada is from Portugal.... had Portuguese chicken espetada's over the coals.

    Nooooooo! An espetada is just meat on a stick. A sosatie is a piece of beef fat, then an apricot, then a piece of pork fat, then a stukkie vleis, then a piece of mutton fat, then another apricot. This sequence is repeated as may times as needed to fill your stokkie. The whole lot is then smothered in a sugar rich curry or similar sauce. Hoe water my mond nou!

    O yes my dad used ot make as such
    Rump cut to blocks.
    Meat/spek/onion/apricot repeat on long metal skewers. then in the curry sauce for about week or more.
    Dit was darem maar baie lekker
