Delicately fry the hunyins and spices till the lovely star aniseed smell flits about and wafts like an elegantly clad lady in a long silky dress, deep into the receptacles of the brain, with a Strauss waltz playing softly somewhere.

Or in Debben: Bru, check here, just waai with the flames till you can like smaak the so pungent dis tings by da nose.

Then add the chicken livers. Deksel on, bit of water and rev.

Give the iphalishi ( softer and runnier version of phutu prepared differently) a roer, and add a tin of t & o to the other pot. Bit more liquid, deksel goes on and simmer.

Reminds me of my time in Melmoth. The manne there drank something called a John Deere, vodka and cream soda. Without the roomys of course.

Forgot to take a pitcha but inside the parcel there is some nyama and perritoes. Douse with rosemary and all spice and waai onto the coals. And SOP from here on is to pour a rum as and when time, inclination or just sommer allows.

Fry the nyama a bit to get some flavour loosened, remove, add a gravy sous packet and water and roer.
