Growing up on a farm where we had corn on the cob quite a lot, I started not to like it. After having it with bovril, I will enjoy it more! I like the salt from the bovril with the natural sweetness of the corn.

No time for fire tonight, so gas had to do. Made my wife's favourite, my Portuguese "Moerby" sauce chicken. Named that way because I "moer by" every sauce I have in the fridge. It is never exactly the same but it is always great. Tonight's contained mostly Prego Sauce (about 70%), Spur Durky sauce, Chutney, Chinese Sweet and Sour Sauce, some brown sugar, Sriracha Hot Sauce and Tobasco Chipotle.

My technique is that I pre-cook the chicken, and then while still hot, cover them with the cold sauce. Same as when dunking hot koeksusters in ice cold syrup. Putting the hot chicken into the cold sauce makes the sauce and taste "pull into" the chicken.

I put my chicken pieces in a microwave bowl, spice with Salt, Chicken Spice, some Worcester Sauce and Lemon Juice. Cover with boiling water and Microwave on high for 10 minutes. Remove chicken from water and cover immediately with cold sauce from the fridge. Leave in fridge for at least 2 hours, turning now and then.

Then braai over medium heat, mopping with sauce after every turn.

Served tonight with Braaibroodjie and Fried Rice - Bit of oil in pan, fry some chopped Onion and Green Pepper. When softened, add your cooked rice and stir fry. Add some salt and pepper and a bit more oil if needed.

And of course a Brannas and Coke to wash it down.
