Was good fun. Did have a detrimental effect on my rum. Much to SWAMBO'S disappointment.

So now I am enjoying a gift from a good auzzie mate.

Nedge, I normally apply a couply rules, 1) Never mess with a mans shootin irons; 2) Never mess with a mans dog; 3) Never mess with a mans braai; 4) Never mess with a mans wimmins, in that order.

Point number 3, if I may, use the indirect heat method with the lid. Place the coals on one side only using the coal rail to keep them in place. You can adjust the position of the rail. This gives you an insanely hot section to grill over direct but also a cooler section to put items that need to cook longer without burning like the Mabanzanees.

Keep the lid on if you arent turning stuff. Hope that helps a bit

    Cheers

Went old-school last night..... fire, rum, krummelpap, tomato and onion sauce, wors and chilli paste.

Will be more creative for the braai tomorrow.
