So hier en daar gaan jou clutch bietjie werk, anders gaan jy dalk bokspring.

    Sakkie,

How do you feel a Jimny would cope with the trail?

    1500 motor
    Stock gearing
    Rear locker
    215/80R15 A/T tyres
    Lifted 80mm / Anti-roll bar removed
    Some armour
    High clearance bumper with winch
    Nut holding the wheel

In my personal view, from the pictures I have seen, the rocks are simply too round and large, and at the same time not big enough, so you will often get hung up on the diff or belly with the +-29" tyres. If they were bigger, or flatter, you might have been able to climb onto a rock and off the other side.
And you Panhard rod will take punishment...

The bigger tyre requirement makes a lot of sense here.

It's already taken the punishment. It's been replaced with a nice heavy duty Tough-dog one.

    1. 1ste rat: 2.84
    2. Low range: 2.72
    3. Diff Ratio: 4.56

    Gee dit dan 35:1?

Guys i dont want to burst your bubble, calculating ratios and all that tech is nice , but better still is your mindset , carnage is a bitch with teeth , she will be biting usatevery opportunity we give her,. you will return with rock rash on the rims , scrapes to the belly and possibly more,
i have driver carnage up and down twice, second time all the way to the beach.
Plan this trip as a adventure fun filled ride, we have two full days to drive 8 ks . 6 odd on day 1 and 1,5 on day two, seems craze but day two takes time and is the most dificult part to drive .
If we make it and we will then the celebrations are welcome relieve .

I'm expecting/ hoping for the hardest trail I've ever done. JP will be driving with me and we understand each other and work well together under pressure. I'm not a very good wheeler but I will have fun and get stuck a lot, in short we are not expecting a scenic drive and will prepare for the worst.

Torque converter is BAIE meer vergewensgesind as clutch.

I hear you. I would still like to give it a "bash", but not this time round. I have to get the finances back to the point where they can cope with "God forgives, rocks don't" again.
