For anybody who's wondering, this is what it takes to change the clutch and torque-tube seals on a Unimog

    Haha, they wish!

As far as I know, Land Rover doesn't apply the principle of the "flexible" chassis, which gives the Mog its enormous suspension articulation. On a Mog, everything like the cab, rear bin etc must be mounted in a specific way, usually on three points (not four), in order to accommodate a chassis that flexes. This gives it greater wheel travel than most other off-road vehicles.

All Land Rovers have a rigid chassis, I believe (correct me if I'm wrong. Though having owned and loved a Discovery, I'm not a historical expert).

Was just referring the "body-off" principle to work unhindered on the engine, drivetrain, etc.

It's actually a really simple vehicle, but everything is really big and heavy, and I don't have the space or the equipment. So this job is in the capable hands of Ferdi from Mogdoc. I can't believe how quickly they do a large job like this... it's been barely 3 days, and they are almost done.

Ahhhh yes, of course. You are correct.

Luckily, it's easier to get a Unimog cab off when there are so few wires and connections.
A Discovery 3/4 is a bit like brain surgery, by the looks of it...

I think the reason for the Unimog is that all the mechanicals are tucked right into the chassis, and very high up, in order to not be in the way of any serious off-roading or water fording :-)

Thanks! I'm hoping we can get the numbers up to around 15 or so at least?
Could you perhaps also post what vehicles everybody are coming with? Not only would it be very interesting for everybody to know, I have a little plan up my sleeve that requires knowing which vehicles are coming....
