    Default Arrived: Disco 4 V8 HSE 2010

Finance approved and official OTP signed today.

This should be in the driveway by next week sometime... after originally deciding to keep the FL2 for a few years and mod it, this Disco found me.

Fantastic service (and completely contradictory to my own posts by the way) from MMA Cars (Yugen and Predesh) in Pinetown. Literally super smooth from start to finish.

    Details:

    2010 V8 HSE
130k km on the clock with FSH up until 111k with LR agents, then 1 private service.
    Immaculate condition
Colour : Not sure, but a kind of blue. Anybody care to help me with the colour.

Tuesday i'm moving the hand controls from the FL2 to this and then the adventure really begins.

Mods planned for the future, since this will be a long term vehicle specced for overlanding and tours:

Tyres (hopefully Duratracs). Will stick to 19" as there are many more options compared to a view years ago.
    Llams controller
    Underbody protection
Bumper and winch mod (will go F&F Extreme here to support local)
    Back bumper
    Aux fuel tank
    Spare wheel carrier
FR Slimline full rack (with the RT tent to follow when done)
    Seat covers (probably Escape)
    ....
    what else am I missing?

Anyhow, let's see how thirsty she is.

PS: I'll update my signature once everything is done and dusted.

Thanks, please post some up for perusal.

Question: did you have to change the T-piece for the cooling system on your D4? Is there a DIY guide somewhere?

Edit: and what's the color called?

Will post some pics over the weekend. T-piece is on the D3 v8 4.4. Not on the 5.0.

Btw, I still have an extra brass t-piece in my garage should anyone in PTA need one.

Edit: At that mileage I would definitely recommend a double flush of the gearbox at the next service...mine also has a FSH at agents so mine is also due seeing that the agents believe that the box is 'filled for life'.

I made sure that the replaced control arms before I took delivery as well, could here the slight knock starting on the test drive.

    Thanks Champ for confirming.

Anything else I should look out for? I know the V8's are strong, hence I would only get this and not the SDV6, but still good to know any potential gremlins.

When you get it please check the water pump for leaks, its the Achilles heel of this motor.

What are we looking at cost wise for a double flush?

Congrats on your buy, it looks great!
Mike Grant in PMB can do the flush, he's got the right machine if no one's got it down on your side.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of disability do you have that require hand controls? My brother in law is a quad and has been racing and obviously driving too since his accident. His dad is busy modifying a WJ Grand Cherokee, after spending a heck of a lot of time on a G Wagen...
You can send me a PM if it's too personal.
I'd just be interested to see your setup, to satisfy my own curiosity

I'm talking under correction here...but somewhere between 5-7k if done at an Indy or at ZF.

Edit: IFAIK Mike in PMB has a very fancy machine in his workshop specifically for the gearbox flush

Yeah, will get to exhaust as one of the mods.

As for flush, I'll first see if Tuneserv can do as they are my indie..

As for the hand controls, I'm a double amputee so the hand controls are quite straightforward. Will get pics when I can and post them after I've has them fitted...

As mentioned...on the 5L no worries about the T-piece thingymagic.
    Get the Water pump checked.
I was about to say you should not waste money on Liams system and go for DiscoEast rods but being an double amputee....well...that changes the game somewhat.

Will also be interisted to see what the hand controls look like/work like.

Yeah, indeed. Llams would make a big difference in the real world, just for ease of access.

Will get waterpump checked also. What should they look out for though?
