Default The 2.4 Hilux Revo SRX GD-6 Double Cab Thread

I picked up my 2.4 Revo GD-6 Hilux 4x4 SRX double cab on friday afternoon and i got to thinking that us 2.4 owners need a thread for ourselves. We can discuss mods, fuel consumption, ability, reliability and loads of other stuff on here. I see that in the latest SA 4x4 magazine they mention that they have purchased the very same vehicle and intend to give it a make over in the next few issues. Will be interesting to see what they do to the Revo.

So let me kick this thread off with pics of my stock standard version. I dont intend to mod it heavily, just add a nudge bar, tonneau cover, roll bar and maybe some after market rock sliders.

Just out of interest sake, does it have ESP?

Not the SRX. The SR does. Yes i know, people are going to berate me regarding my choice of the SRX instead of the higher tech and safety gadgets of the SR, but at the end of the day I wanted a no nonsense plain double cab with a bit of power and good fuel consumption.

So looks are more important than safety

Something like that. I drove the previous generation 2.5 as a company car for 3 years. Never needed the traction control. Or the additional airbags. Lets hope that I dont need them in the future.

Does the Rubicon have traction control/ESP? Curtain airbags?

I'm not really having a go at you

What I do find very perplexing is that the SR, the "workhorse" model has all the safety tech, but the SRX, the more family orientated "leisure" model has only ABS. I don't understand Toyotas logic here.

Whether you "need" ESP is a topic for another thread, I'd say it's better to have it than not.

I do suspect & agree that the additional safety on the "workhorses" have to do with the mining and industrial sector. Most of these sites require that the bakkies have a high safety rating. One bhp billiton site pushed to only have ncap 5 star bakkies on site. The requirement was never "officially rolled out due to the difficulty of the local market. (At one stage only the top spec ford ranger had a 5 star rating)...

Nice Thread Caracal......and a GREAT vehicle, the 2,4 SRX - in my opinion, that 400nM 2,4 Diesel coupled to that 6 speed box is a future legend!!8)

    Congrats, MANY miles of smiles!!

And pricing is not THAT bad Caracal. I especially like the front bumper without the "loops"..........ek HAAT dit as ek die bumper kan sien as ek ry.

Ek dink ook aan spacers voor...dan staan hy mooi gelyk. Kos so R 2000, fitted. Maar ek wil eers kyk hoe staan hy as ek my canopy ophet.

Caracal jy moet speel met jou tyre pressures - hulle is BAIE styf van die dealer af. Ek maak myne so 2,1 Bar.

Wil hankooks opsit.

Hi Lofty.
