I haven't actually checked the manual but it will normally say a specific distance and then qualify it by saying to replace the air filter more often if used in dusty conditions. Changing the air filter regularly can only do good.

I'm thinking of changing the radio in my Hilux to a unit that supports Android auto. Has anyone changed the unit, is it a lot of work? Would I still be able to use the steering controls? Would it have an effect on the warranty?

Recommendations for head units that support Android auto, my budget is about R4000.

    Thanks

Took my bakkie in last week after I got the message on the toyota app. A hour or two later they phoned and said they are done and I can collect. As I walked in I saw my bakkie received a curtesy wash and wax, nice! When I asked them what they did to remedy the recall they said ‘nothing, because you don’t have a towbar installed’. I was tempted to say duhhh... but they can do a recall any day again if it means I get that wash and interior cleaned! 🤣

No ideas? Or suggestions? All the radios I see is about double your budget so I am also looking at upgrading the radio. Any suggestions?

I did some research and the Pioneer AVH-ZL5150BT fits perfectly in the Revo without having to get any extra trim. They're around R6500.

UYS ek was nou die dag by Honeydew Toyota en toe se hulle nee hulle het nie 'n accessories departement nie ek moet four ways toe gaan. Toe is ek sommer vies.

Joune het nie USB's nie as ek reg onthou so dan moet ek nou weer gaan om USB's te fit.

Maar ek sal opvolg en sien wat vra hulle.

    The frustrating search continues.

Caska at Toyota recomended A and J is 13 500.
AV wants to sell a Pioneer with Camera and sub and new speakers at R 19 500.

All this is more than I want to spend.

Gaan kyk bietjie hier Hannes. https://www.stopshop.co.za/1890-hilux-2015-2018.

Ek het so 'n paar jaar terug (2012) 'n eenheid vir my D4D gekoop deur hulle gekoop en het hom so verkoop. Ek ken die ou wat hom gekoop het. Hy werk nou nog.

    Hi Mal Hannes:

Try Abrie Rautenbach at Acoustic online... +27 78 413 9808 he has quoted me on a Sony XAV-AX 200 @ R8600 (Head Unit, Rearview Camera, Trim, Harness, Aerial Adapter and Fitment included) in May.

Guy does awesome work and service, see his Facebook profile. A colleague of mine did his 2018 Fortuner with the exact model Sony HU. He is very happy with the result.

Well I never did the radio upgrade but just had my 80 000 service. Nothing to report.

I can just laugh at the technician who tells me in detail about what he did to my Toyota tow bar.

His face when I said I have a stofpad tow bar was very funny.

Yesterday I noticed the passenger side carpet and mat is wet. Today after returning home from work I noticed water on the carpet where it meets the dash in the footwell. I'm certain it's the aircon is responsible. Anyone have an idea what could cause it?

    Will phone the dealership tomorrow.

    Still loving my 2.4!!

Fuel consumption just keeps getting better, returned 12.69km/L with my last fill up. Back and forth between Menlyn and Sandton in peak traffic for most of the tank.

Tyres wear is not too bad, have 64k on the clock and still have about 15% of the tread left on the Bridgestones. Will be replacing them with Hankooks when i need to.

One thing i did notice is that the spare wheel is a steel wheel. Im looking for a second spare but will buy a toyota revo 17" rim for that. Anyone have one for sale? Alternately where can I get one? Toyota want an arm and a leg for one.

Also want to add the fog lights. At Toyota they are R3500 each!! Anyone have some they want to get rid of? Where can I buy genuine items?

In the previous model the rubber hose channeling the water condensation from the aircon to outside (you will be familiar with the water puddle under the left front side of the bakkie when the aircon has been working) the bakkie tended to come loose where it is attached to the collector. This is located to the right and above the left front footwell. It could even be kicked off if a passenger lifted up their right foot too high. When it came off there the water would collect in the footwell. Mine came off twice. It did not have a clamp on that hose. I secured it with a small cable tie and that was the end of the problem.

I wonder if it not similar on the new one? I have not checked on my new bakkie if it is the same yet but that is the first thing you should check.
