My consumption was swak, want my timing was uit. Gee my nou konstant 10km/liter, met firefighter, offroad, boot sleep, oop pad. Baie happy nou, en baie krag

Post Re: Nissan Bellhousing Compatibility Info

Hi all we should add the VQ SERIES engine and gearbox combos too. since some of us are venturing and will venture in that directions too. a VG30 (hardbody v6) does NOT work on a VQ so if anyone know what box fits the VQ engine or even close will be a great help.
as some may know i have aVQ30det( soon to be TT) project and have been looking for a compatible gearbox. a 350z box is a direct bolt in aswell as a v6 NAVARa box. but the prices are still more than i can pay. i have gotten myself a 2.5 6 speed Diesel NAVARA BOX and have not check if it will mate up to my motor. if it doesnt what the better option sell the box and get the 350z box? what can i get for the box it is a 6 speed after all. i will post a seperate post for this delema

My Nissan patrol VG30 1991 has a conrod through the block. I am looking to buy a brand new complete crated Nissan Vq25de engine with clutch for R15 000. To install in my Nissan 3L V6 4x4 bakkie. I also need advice on whether it will fit, and how to mate it to the VG30 gearbox. It will need an aftermarket engine management system. The Nissan VQ engines were rated among the 10 best engines in the world. I am hoping that the new technology engine will give me better fuel consumption.

The VQ engine fits onto the 350z 6 speed box, I think. The engine output is similar to the VG30 I believe.

As per nizmozilla's post on 2018/05/08, the VG and VQ are not compatible patterns.

Rather buy a VG30E, VG30DE or VG30DET from an engine importer. As far as I know, the VG30DE is wider and might fit the RHD engine compartment but maybe have a look on the NISMO internet sites.

yes the VG30 bell housing does not match up to a VQ engine. a good engineer can do a bell housing conversion or adapter plate but it does require some work. my VQ engine has a 6 speed Navara diezell box with a 350z bell housing welded to it. does require the engineer to have motor with flywheel clutch and gearbox to make this work. i was lucky i had a complete 350z(vQ35) bell housing to cut up. unfortunately the bell housing from the 350 and navara box are too different to just be mounted on the the navara box so this required weling it on. sounds crude but was done nicely.
a 4L v6 navar box should be able to be bolted to the vq since the 4l is a VQ45. BUT since u running 4x4 and have more than 1 output that will requir some other work to make that work so thats a hole lot of other engineering and mounting etc to be fabricated plus the 4l 4x4 Navara box will cost a fortune.
i think i coverd all the options.

And here I was about to start a new thread about the Nissan vq25de engine. This time in my 2.4 double cab. Still running the KA engine, which is now on its way out, very little compression left in here. I suppose at over 460k on the clock it was bound to happen.

When the VQ25DE brand new crated and complete engine price dropped to R10 000, I could no longer resist, and it's now game on. The mechanic replacing the VG30 engine with it in my 4x4, is confident he can do it, especially with all the motor engineering skills in the Uitenhage, Dispatch and PE area. So watch this space, I'll post updates!

you'll need an adapter plate at least, not sure who makes them

I believe one of his engineering contacts has already made this, the VQ25DE flywheel also doesn't fit, so the VG30 flywheel has been engineered to fit. I will be visiting the project in this week, and post an update and pictures. I did receive the following photos so far.

Peter commented on converting a TB42/45 petrol to TD42 diesel:

    Re: Nissan Patrol info
That is correct Jelo, except for the starter motor, which is different (3 bolts instead of two, with a larger spigot and with the bolts spread more widely apart).

However, the actual bell housing casting is the same, IE there is room to machine a TB bell-housing out to fit the TD starter.

Changing back from TD to TB is obviously a little bit more tricky...

Daar is ook n lengte verskil tussen die diesel en petrol bellhousing op die patrol. So mens doen die swop met engine se bellhousing
