    Default Vehicle storage Cairo

    Hi Everybody
I am planning a trip to Cairo in 2018. There is no ferries to cross into Europe and I want to visit my daughter in London. So the best will be to leave my touring vehicle/camper in Cairo for two weeks.
Does anybody know of a reputable place near Cairo Airport which is not too expensive where I can leave my vehicle for two weeks.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
    Greetings Bennie

Hi Benny, good to see that your plans are progressing. I would be surprised if anyone on this forum can help you with vehicle storage in Cairo, but worth a try.

You may already be aware of it but have you looked on the Hubb website at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ To post queries or send PMs you will need to register, similar to this forum. Although primarily for motor-bikers plenty of vehicle travelers are members and provide information.
The most relevant section for your purposes is here http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/north-africa/

Near the top of the list you will see a very detailed sticky concerning travel in Egypt at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...post-1-a-63126 . You might find some info on this long sticky. The sticky was started by an Egyptian enthusiast by the name of Omar Mansour. I notice he has been incredibly helpful in the past to other travelers and you might want to send him a PM or just post your question on that thread. Other guys that have proved very helpful and knowledgeable about Egypt are Sam Rutherford and Chris Scott if you need to send PMs if no response to a post on the thread.

Edit: OR: send a PM to Wazungu Wawili on this forum. She has a the name of a fixer in Egypt they used to cross the border south and those fixers have unbelievable contacts in Egypt.

As Stan says, the best forum to ask this question is on the HUBB (Horizons Unlimited) North Africa section. This question has been asked before on that forum, but some years ago and things change in Egypt. One of the old threads brings up the question as to whether one can leave a vehicle and fly out. There was some question as to whether the vehicle is stamped into the passport on arriving in Egypt. However, I don't remember our vehicle being stamped into the passport and there is no sign of this in the relevant passport (but we were possibly the last vehicle to come through Nuweiba on the Sinai in 2013 and they might have done things differently at Nuweiba). We did meet in Aswan a Brazilian family heading south who had had to go home to Brazil for some months and left their vehicle in the customs compound as that was the only way they could leave Egypt for such a long period.

We used Mohamed Abouda (https://ferryaswanwadihalfa.wordpress.com/contact/ ). He is based in Aswan and if you use him as your fixer for getting into Egypt then, I am sure, he will have a contact in Cairo where you can leave your vehicle - no doubt, for a cost. Otherwise, do you know anyone in your Embassy in Cairo who may be able to help?

There is a jolly band of expats who live in El Maadi (a suburb of Cairo) who are mostly Land Rover enthusiasts and get together to tinker with their desert vehicles at the weekends. One of them is Sam Watson who can be contacted on Facebook. They might be able to help.

    Good luck!

    Hi Everybody,
Thank you for your info and help so far. There is still a lot of research and planning to do and I will keep you informed.
Kiri, this trip is in support of my younger brother, who wants do this trip with his motorcycle. I shall be doing it with my trusty Isuzu KB 250 4X4. We are still in the planning stages and will really get serious once I come back from my Botswana/Namibia tour in August.
