Default Amarok Aftermarket Intercooler and Air Filter

    Hi,

    I have a 2015 Model 132kW 2.0 BiTDI Auto 4Motion.

Already done a De-Cat and UniChip with Dyno Tuning.

Very happy with the results, extra Power and some good low-end torque gains. Fuel Economy is also very good (might be due to the change to new General Grabber All Terrain Tyres...).

BUT, I feel there's more to be done. I would like to know what there is to gain (or lose, except warranty) from fitting a larger Intercooler and a proper K&N Air Intake Solution on top of what I've already done?

I have heard a few stories already, and wanted to ping here on 4x4 Community for some more juicy info.

Have anyone done this to their Roks already?

    Is it worth it?

As far a I know there is no aftermarket intercooler available in SA yet for for the Amarok. In Aus they have a Powercooler intercooler available but the cost is ridiculous. If you get it right please post on the forum. I am also looking at that.

Have you logged the car to check if the stock intercooler is doing a sufficient job? I hear the stock cooler is sizeable so potentially the stock unit should be good as is...no use in changing if it is not necessary. Aftermarket filter probably will not make much of a difference, do some tests though and let us know the outcome.

I spoke to a few people regarding bigger / better intercoolers, and were told the standard one are more than enough.

Same with the exhaust, the gains are hardly noteworthy, less than 5kw gains.

Also, be careful not to make more than 500nm on the auto, as you will experience gearbox issues.

Just discovered this, new UniChip Q4 + I-Driver can get some extra out of the Rok.

Explained here (although for a Ranger, the concept remains the same):

This is what has been installed on my Amarok. It was done locally in kimberley, so no dyno graphs available due to it being a permanent 4wd. Will Dyno it in Cape Town in April.
