Default Harvest Moon at Peach Pan

I have been sitting on this TR for a number of reasons, but feel happy now to share.
The plan was to experience an event that is not going to occur again in my life time - a total Lunar Eclipse at a time of a Harvest/Super Moon. This in a location probably unequaled to match the occasion.
the trip was not without its difficulties, and Charlotte believes in my reporting there is too much emphasis on these on not enough on the awesome experiences.
    Incredible stuff.
    - Photographing the moon without special lens - it is more difficult than you think!
    - a night sky with glittering stars and a bright Milky Way, at full moon.
    - Experiencing a day when the maximum temperature was at midnight and the minimum at midday
    - the kindness and warmth of people who are up to assist you when you have a problems
    - the fortune to experience being surrounded by a herd of hundreds of eland - where did the come from? Where were they going?

Thanks Frank, nice read, sounds like a perfect spot. Enjoyed the images and I know how hard it is to get the shot. I wouldn't tell a soul where it is- next time you'll find crap scattered everywhere.
I hope there's more from the CKGR side of the trip?

Christa, I am slowly getting my act together on this month's CKGR trip - do not hold your breath.

Impressive looking lions outside of the park. You seem to have a habit of attracting Eland Trooper. Thanks for a great trip report, filled with a mix of laid back chill and some mishaps gamefully overcome.

Hi Trooper, what a great report, thanks for sharing.
Very well done on problem solving, I know the feeling.

When at Matseleng in 2009 we were obliged to undertake a walk to the 'nearby' village. And not being able to find camp the evening before was quite a harrowing experience!

I reckon strange things happen in the Kalahari-like not been able to account for the second tank of diesel, both frighting and hilarious at the same time. Beautiful images of the young male lion. Thanks for taking the time to write the trip report Trooper, much appreciated.
