....and the manufacturer wipes his backside off on the Kuga owners. No class action?

Default S.A.'s burning Ford Kugas goes international

I think the lady in our office came up with the problem.

She drives a 2013 Kuga, 1.6. Last year, her water reservoir started to leak. As the fluid got less, the vehicle temp climbed.

She found the bottle had a crack and water peeing out. She took it in to Ford. They replaced a pipe from the bottle to .....cant remember where.

She got it back, drove home - same thing. Temp rise, and saw the bottle still cracked. She turned around and drove to Ford. She asked why didnt they replace the bottle as requested, but a pipe that was fine.

Anyway, bottle got replaced and all is fine.

Last week, I read the water bottle that is leaking might be a problem. It causes the car to overheat and kaput! Burn.

Looks like 6300. See the Ford statement in that article referred.

My bet is that when person high enough in States finds out what is happening they come down on our Ford people. One dead already. Bad for the brand. To sort out less than 10 000 vehicles is pocket money for Ford.

I don't believe the water leak story.A leaking/loose high pressure fuel pipe that causes a fuel vapour around the engine sounds better.

    +1

I heard from a well known motor journalist that the suspicion is a britle/very small leak in the fuel line that apparently runs somewhere above the exhaust manifold.

    As they say...1+1=fire

The way I read it is that the water leak eventually leads to the engine overheating. The engine head warps and cracks and fuel escapes out onto a hot surface.

Makes sense with all those plastics like the intake manifold. It is a known fact that you need
to replace plastic intakes after an engine overheat.

Well........I really hope Ford SA will man up to this problem. I'm sure they will.

This could be costing them a LOT in sales, I think all over the entire range. Unfair yes, definitely - but that's human nature, unfortunately.

Take out that thick chequebook.....and it IS thick, you're selling thousands of Fords nowadays......pay the moolah, and turn this into a positive PR exercise.

The lack of resolution of Ford SA, to a problem that appears to be not limited to SA, is REALLY confidence inspiring.
NEVER liked Ford, or VW for that matter.
And now both of them are embroiled world wide controversity, fire, nonsense pollution specs...

I would say about all manufacturers have problems. The car make, which lies most on fuel consumption is Merc. Around 50% too low. Other makes have some other issues like failing in crash tests, falling over, outside party can find out where you were last night. Or what about the resent finding. You can buy a kit from internet, which allows you to steal something like 100 milj cars without leaving any marks. Just drive off.

Please do not ask the internet page where the kit is for sale.

South African Ford is not handling this issue properly but such has been the case here for a very long time on many products.

Edit: That 100 milj figure is to open the doors and start the engine. If there is physical steering lock that has to be broken.

We did not experience any problems with our Kuga, but Ford replaced the coolant bottle, hosing, radiator cap and anti-freeze.

Since I spend (against my will) lots of time at Ford. I asked the local Ford if they had the same issue or worried about it. The Kugas in Kenya comes from the same factory and they had major over heating problems long ago. They had to redo all the cooling lines and changed the original Ford cooling system to their own design to prevent this. Every single Kuga here has been modded.

I guess Ford from one country to the next don't communicate to prevent this from happening in other places.
