Default Prodo 4.0 V6 electrical issue?

Hi everyone. My 2004 V6 120 shows TRC VSC Off lights and ABS light. Speedo does not work. Locks in P position. Electric windows and central locking also dead.

This is after I replaced the starter today. I disconnected both my batteries and afterwords I had this problem.

    Any advice?

    Thank you Jaco

    Hi Jaco

Have you recently jumped started or shorted out the battery perhaps?

Had the same issue when I shorted the battery by mistake.

Found that the strip fuse in the engine bay fuse box had blown.
It runs all those circuits you mention. The entire strip fuse needs to be replaced at a cost of R540 from the stealers.

    Fairly straight forward to replace.

    Remove the battery
    Remove fuse box top cover
    Remove fuse box side cover
    Loosen main power cable nut
Use a small flat screwdriver to carefully move the tabs along the sides of the strip fuse and the blade fuse holder inwards.
Pull the strip fuse and blade fuse holder upwards. They come out together.
On the front side of the strip fuse is a 3 screws, holding 2 cables and the blade fuse holder. Remove them and remove the strip fuse.

Replace and install as per removal steps

    Hope that helps.

Of course first thing is to check that strip fuse. You should have power at the main cable connection and at the other side by the blade fuses. Check with a multimeter.

You could also check the continuity over the strip fuse between those two sides as well.

    Blown fuse

    Scooter.
Thanks for your help. It could just have been what you said.
I missed a small fuse inside the car. The ECU IG fuse was blown. Toyota service center foreman at Witbank Toyota happily assisted me today and my wagon is as good as new again. No cost to me. Again thank you.

Note to future issues. Apparently if your brake lights are blown it also has a similar effect.

I had this some time ago when a pin from a trailer plug remained in the socket and the lid closed on the pin, shorting out the brake lights. You can get mobile by pressing the button next to the gear lever to get it out of P.
