Default New Nissan Navara - 1st Hand Impressions Please??

    It's here. at looooong last.

    https://www.nissan.co.za/vehicles/ne...ew-navara.html

And it looks damn nice from the pics, Power and Torque figures look great, and initial (international) road tests are all raving about this newcomer. 5 Year/150 000 km Warranty, too.
Bold styling, but in my opinion one of the better looking DC's available new.
And that rear coil spring setup MUST be VERY VERY nice to test/feel.......!!

Any 1st hand impressions?? I'm right next to the Nissan dealer, so I'll definitely walk over and take one for a spin as soon as it's on the floor.

    Apologies - it's a 6 Year/150 000 Km Warranty.

450 NM of torque - between 1500 and 2500 RPM.

    140 Kw.

    Twin turbo 2.3 Renault Diesel.

    (claimed) 6,5 l / 100 km consumption on the 6 Speed Manual.

And, judging from the pics, KILLER looks.8)

    And climate control.

Pricing dependant, this should sell VERY VERY good!!

Agree about the looks, very nice, possibly better looking than the Ranger but we need to see it in the flesh?
The only thing is that all the reviews that I have read complain about the suspension - nice ride when light but it battles when loaded and towing.........IMO it needs to do both, otherwise it's useless!!

I saw a few in early December travelling towards Nelspruit, they look very good in the flesh.

In Europe they've been running around for a while now obviously. It is a very good looking, very balanced looking van. Strangely though, when coming from the front you are not always immedaitely sure if it is the new or the old one, whether that is good or bad I don't really know.

A friend of mine has had one now for a while and he is very happy, considering his other vehicle is an ML. It is big and very roomy inside. Nice looking vehicle overall, sadly I have not taken it for a drive yet.

I quite like the fact that Nissan has stuck their necks out with a coil rear suspension, must say.

It will eliminate that "jolt" that you get with most DC's with rear leafs on the market.

If it works with a load, that should be a winner. And I'm sure it will work - Land Rover has done a rear coil setup for YEARS. It's also a DC, so it's not as if you need a Tonne payload.........this Navara is whap smack a leisure target market.

It's not about what's a winner. Very few South Africans will change brand loyalty. Especially when you consider Nissans crap service reputation.

Don't get me wrong. I really want one of the new Navaras.

I see the comments about the rear suspension and towing / load on the back - this was quite an issue in the Aussie comparative tests.

BUT, the Aussie model is getting a rear suspension update right about the same time that we are getting the Navara, so I'm going to guess that to be one of the reasons why it's taken so long for us to get it - the suspension updates to make it handle loads better was probably a joint development of some sort for the SA and Aus market.

Coils or not should not be an issue, Defenders have used coils for quit some time.

It would make it much more comfortable though. I wouldn't mind a test drive

That's been the drawback of the Pathfinder since day. Pap couls at the back. Now they are upgrading like Nizmo said. It will be a banging bakkie ! Worth the wait I say if the Aussies sorted out the niggles for us.

Had 3 of them at ADA over the weekend at the Nissan club meeting for us to have a look at. Very very nice in the flesh, yep the rear has been upgraded for load. Will be on sale from mid March.

The official launch is in March. I'm hoping that they bring out all 18 models. If they do, I'm sure that they will do well.

    Very good looking bakkie.

Also saw the Ausie reviews doing towing load tests with all bakkies, they were not happy with the coils.

Hope the got it sorted. Then its hopefully a game changer in our market.

Nissan's local manager gave me a call about two weeks ago and wanted to set up a test drive when the model arrived. According to him, the entry 4x4 DC will price just below the 500k mark in Namibia.

Sounds very tempting, but then I remind myself of Nissan's service record. Ai.
