Default Was your 710 stolen ?

A friend saw a 710 in a pawnshop and wanted to know from me if it was a good buy.I am suspicious that it could be a stolen unit as it only has the power cable and nothing else like the bracket, which it needs to power up or box etc.Out of principle I do not like to buy stuff that look like it could be stolen .So I thought I can at least post the question on the forum . Has anybody had their Garmin Nuvi 710 stolen lately?

To make sure, you can check the serial number, maybe the "real" owner black listed it (that is IF it is indeed stolen) and then you can check with the Garmin people.
My Quest was stolen at a car wash in Springs and I had it black listed. No repairs can now be done or sold, if the potential buyer checks the serial number.

Visit the pawn shop and ask to look at the GPS unit.

Find the serial number and write it down.

Phone Garmin SA (Avnic Trading) and ask them to look on their system to see if there is any record of any map purchases for that serial number.

If so, then they will have the full details of the person who bought the mapset/s.

That person can then be contacted to find out if their unit was stolen or legitimately sold.
