Re: Subaru Outback DPF Delete
Second post – welcome to the forum.
I have done a DPF Delete on a different vehicle (not my current one).
DPFs soot up even with regens. Most are designed to last about 120K, but I have seen them go at 80K. How many Ks are on your odometer?
DPFs are expensive to replace and may not fix the problem. It could soot up again very quickly due to causes such as: leaking injectors (common), engines burning oil (worn piston rings allowing blow-by, leaking valve stem seals), turbo seals leaking, etc.
I’d get a chipper to delete the ECU’s DTC causing the flashing light and regens, but then it will soot up more quickly. So, the cheapest next step is to gut the DPF / cat or insert a straight pipe. Besides a more sporty sound, you will also see improved fuel economy, faster spooling and increase in power.
Do you have black smoke road-side inspections like we do in Cape Town?
