The 2014 SCV6 petrol also has pop up 8 speed. One thing I liked about this was you can just stop car and turn off ignition and dial goes to park.

Definitely not, the V8 was/is streets ahead of the SCV6. Drove one again before deciding to buy the LC.

so far all good, do miss a lot of the D4 though! It is very difficult to beat the D4, as an overall package, the LC just pips it.

Oh, and I may get flak for this BUT the LR follow up and after sales treatment is about 1000 times better than Toyota.I am still waiting for my offroad course and a damaged bonnet rubber. No follow up calls since delivery.

is the SCV6 really that bad?

It puts out 250kW/450Nm and rated fuel consumption is around 12-13l/100km, so it's no slouch.

So it's down by 26kW/60Nm on the V8, but not that much, when you consider the fuel savings.
