Five seconds is way too long, the water will look like fog and one will have to use 10 stop ND's to get that shutterspeed while the light is good anyway.

1/10th is what I have found works best.

Riaan, if you don't mind me contributing to your thread.

The view from the lookout at Mapelane towards St Lucia and overlooking the Umfolozi mouth. Or as they call it these days, Maphelane.

I grew up in Empangeni and how I miss that part of the world... We spent many a holiday and weekend there among many other places throughout Zululand.

I have been following the thread since day 1. Was just feeling a bit nostalgic when I came across this picture which I took a few years back. I need some time back there in the very near future...

You have really posted some stunning pictures.

The original owners will not "sell" it and no one will want it anyway. The spring leafed Marula tree providing shade also will not be touched, but for other unrelated reasons.

Out of interest, the clan name or isitakazelo for Mdletshe is Ngomane. Ngomane was an induna in the Mdletshe clan who, on Shaka's mom Nandi's expulsion and eviction to the Mthetwa area took her under his wing and cared for her for some time.

So if you have a co worker who has the Mdletshe surname, you can call him Ngomane (male only as the women have long story to it) which is a sign of respect.

Seeing I am in the process of selling my camera equipment I was looking through all my back ups of photos over the years and found these 2.
Not to Riaans standards of course but memories for me at my favorite place in the world.

The first one is interesting as it taken by moonlight about 2 1/2 minutes exposure.

    Cheers

An old pic. Doing what I spent an inordinate amount of time doing - flyfishing the sea and being on the beach. I see I have the big bat here, the Loomis 12 weight so I must have been waiting for kingfish to show and the area looks like Dog Point.

Busy shooting a Maphelane sunset, paparazzi had been following me, as can be garnered from this pic.

Quite evocative Riaan. I really like this picture. It has a brooding and anticipatory feel to it.
