    Default Remap Touareg TDi ECU

    Hi

Looking at remapping my 2007 Touareg 3.0 TDi 165kw ECU. Hoping for not only better performance but better economy, currently getting just under 700km on a tank in town.
Has anyone done this? results ?
Anyone offer remapping in Cape Town?

    Thanks

If more power = more economy, why are more powerful motors not more economical?

You won't get a 165 kW motor lighter on fuel unless there is something wrong with it. Make peace with it.

The 3.0 TDI VW motors can get into bad tune due to failed sensors and then they are very lame. Sort that out and you will be happy again.

165 kW is more than enough power for road use.

Will start a new thread to see if my consumption is the norm. Amazingly I remapped my Audi A4 and decatted and with a massive increase in power the fuel economy improved immensely. The remapping companies are quoting a 25% increase in performance on the treg and 10%+ better fuel consumption at a cost of 4K

What I found on a chipped X5 was that it was actually heavier on fuel in town when chipped. It fools the ECU the give an incorrect lower reading.

700km in town on a tank is pretty good for a 2.5ton permanent 4WD vehicle....

I generally get around 650km/tank with town driving (with a bit of freeway) and a heavy foot.

In Cpt for diesel, I would only go Revo @ Ferrolis. Did my little A3 2.0 tdi with them and Boom. I guess 10% extra consumption, but Revo is a quality SW for diesels.

For the little Sline I went with Stealth, oh the joy, until bombing around the city bowl reminded me why a diesel rocks.

If you are going to do it, Revo, but realize you are going to use more diesel, no matter what they tell you.

Blank the EGR, gut the cats. Revo map.

You will gain about 10% in power and economy.

    All in about R12-R15k.

Not sure of the costs. But Ferollis/Revo runs a special at the end of every year. That was 3,5k for my 2wd Audi tdi. check there site, always a special on late Nov-Dec.

Decact and down pipe on 2.0t Audi petrol was 3,1k installed.(but different tuning company)

But I would not use anything from anywhere else but Revo for a diesel.

Marius, having a few diesels re the EGR blank, read a lot about not so good from Treg V6? Does the VAG SW have options for this or is a pure blank plate?

Interesting, I love a good remap, but I am wrong a lot of the time.

Oh PS, do not expect fuel economy savings, might as well install a magnet on you fuel line if you believe that pitch.
