    Default Willy's Jeep Professional upgrade/Conversion

    Hi,

I have a Willy's Jeep that i need to take to professionals for upgrading.

The jeep has been done locally for a mate of mine before I took it over from him, but it has serious issues and I am not happy with it.

I am NOT knowledgeable on engines/4x4 upgrades etc at all, so I would like to take it to professionals for a serious overall inspection and suggestions/quotes.

The jeep has a Chev straight 6 motor (I think its a 4.2), original Willy's G/Box, Transfer case and Diff's, but there are a number of issues with this setup as they fitted a Weber 32/36 to it which I think is too small. It has been lifted a mile and the universals make a terrible sound.

There are other numerous issues with the suspension, general steering etc

I dont even know if this engine/G/box setup is correct.

I dont want "Backyard" mechanics to inspect her, no disrespect to anyone who does their own upgrades/mod's at home, but I have found that most guys have their own preference for these types of things and it leaves me with the headache of deciding who to believe.

Who builds these kinds of vehicles and where can I contact them?

My advice is that if you own a hybrid like this, it's best to start learning about automotive engineering.

Post some pics. I see the two you tried to post didn't work.

Generally, the Jeep CJ vehicles also came with a GMC inline 6, so the Chev is a decent replacement.

The carb is a little small: but if set up properly it will provide the torque needed and not drink too much fuel. I'd say a 38 Weber would be better, but I'm not an expert on the 4.1 Chev.

Prop shafts and axles can be modified for extreme angles using various techniques. It depends on what has been done so far.

Contact Ronald at 4x4 traction in PIETERSBURG . He has the knowledge and experience to help you. Take into consideration that when you go to these guys that have the experience and knowledge and use it to run a business this does not come cheap. Fixing someone else mistakes can also cost a arm and a leg and on 'old " jeeps some parts might have to be made to accommodate, could be a life changing exercise.
