Default Is it time for an XJ?

    Hi guys

I swapped my Jeep KJ 3.7L with 2" lift etc for a Ford Figo in 2012 . I made the change at the time as my 1st child had just arrived (I now have a 2nd turning 3 next month) and i couldn't afford the fuel bills or any unexpected maintenance costs (or breaking my daily drive on a 4x4 trail). I'm now moving to Knysna at the end of the month and i'm in a position to drive a 'lifestyle' vehicle. I've found the following ad on gumtree and think it could be a good buy https://www.gumtree.co.za/a-cars-bak...90910250242009.

I'm wanting to swap out my Ford Figo for a 4x4 which means i'm on a sub R100k budget. This will be my daily drive but the office will be a 10km return trip (when I don't cycle to work) otherwise i'll use it to get to the MTB trails in the forest, occasional boat launching and maybe a 4x4 trail a few times a year.

There is also a pretty nice Discovery available http://www.capesuv.co.za/index.php?p...c=view&id=1006 but I'm thinking that the 4.0L petrol could have less surprises and that the extra's on the jeep (lockers etc.) are a good deal. I'm based in CPT and the Jeep is in JHB/PTA so it would involve a flight and long drive back to the Cape making it a bit more difficult to take a look for myself.

What do the forum experts think?

I can't comment on the Landy, But that XJ looks solid. If you can live with the fuel bill then I would go for the XJ.

    Both good deals.

    - Jeep has nice extras and has clearly been owned by an enthusiast, but you'll need to ask a forumite to go have a look
    - D2 is also decent and since it is sold by a dealer, comes with Consumer Protection
