Default I need new tyres, HELP with decision please.

    Hi all

Its time to get new tyres and i have no idea what to get.

I use the vehicle on a daily basis to work and back ( all tar driving ).
I hit the gravel about 2 or 3 times a month at max and its normally passes that we drive, hardly do the 4x4 courses.

I want M/T but obviosly that makes no sense because of all the tar driving so i had a look at the BF Goodrich A/T and the Dueler A/T.
BF's are going for R3910 per tyre
Dueler are going for R2300 per tyre.

Im willing to pay the extra if it makes a huge difference.

any help, advice on which tyre to take , other options as well ?

    thank you
    Regards Adrian

The real question is how much of a poser do you want to be?

    What size?

Wrangler AT/SA are rubbish for what you pay by the way. So are Cooper AT3.

I've heard that the KL71's are almost on a par with AT tyres on road... I generally don't believe everything i read or hear... They do look cool though... Bit pricy for the 17s...

I have Wranglers on my Isuzu. Vewy vewy qwuiet... I've done 40 000km on them and they have about 6mm left. So if my maths is right 70 - 80 thousand. Now, My Isuzu isn't 4x4 so couldn't testify to that, but I have never had a puncture. My brother did a course at Klipbokkop. 2 Vehicles running on ATSA Wrangler and 2 on HP (Highway Pattern) Wranglers and they had no punctures on 3 day course. That being said. I own a tyre shop and if I have to replace now, ln a 4x4, it will be Grabber A/T's. I've heard they are more noisy, but they're good.

Not expensive if you're buying mine with only 6000km on them. Well not expensive by MT standards.

Admittedly, size isn't what OP wants... 265/70/R17.

Although BF goodrich A/T's have a bad rep when it comes to braking and price. I still stay a firm believer in them. Reason being, I've driven very rough terrane and not once had to change a tyre. Also its on my business vehicle and both times I have gotten 200 000 km out of them. All I do is rotate them every 3months and do wheel alignment when necessary. My argument is to all the nay sayers is that if you know your vehicle very well you'll know its capabilities and be able to compensate for it.
