Please tell me it's not bottom end

Any ideas? I've idled it for a few minutes and revved it a bit, I might say the sound gets a bit better when revving but hard to say..

I did have a big end go and it's similar but not quite so clack clack..

Pls ur thoughts.. Am I Tata doomed?
I'll have a listen tomorrow but mine does a weird noise when I've tried to start it with the immobiliser active, disarmed, and tried again.

Not sure what you mean here.

I'd try and block the EGR port from and to the exhaust manifold: don't trust that thing on mine, it has popped its gas feed pipe once already and I get a distinct diesel smoke smell at idle so I have a leak somewhere.

Wd having the battery off all night clear this? Otherwise I'll try clear it using the svc manual instructions...

Going to give this a try tomorrow..

    http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=166345

Crack each line while running and check if noise goes away.. I did have a guy from Malawi who claims to be a diesel pump mech hammer my bloody injector! I stopped him in short order and grabbed my stuff and left, shop tested it OK but wonder if he damaged sth..

No sorry.. Nothing on codes.. Going to pull injector plugs one by one to see if noise goes away..

Also check valve clearances.. Have to figure out the sound..

just to say I got the bakkie going today! replaced the push rod, the lifter was stuck in the bore so they prob figured to heck with it and removed push rod, R45 bucks later all sorted - had to sand down lifter bore and lifter for about 45 mins with finger till it was smooth and all, big thanks to Koos the mech from from Tata Oostenberg in brackenfell for letting me know about the engine plate!

All sorted and many thanks chaps for the input and patience!!!

fyi the xenon 3.0 uses same water pump pulley as the 207
