Default Trailblazer limited slip diff and smaller sparer wheel

My son mentioned where he worked the bakkies has limited slip diffs, the company trying to save money put a smaller size tyre on a rear wheel, after a few km's the diff was destroyed. With that in mind would a Trailblazer diff become damaged if the smaller spare when was used on the rear? And will GM cover the cost of a new rear diff?

    Just something to consider

I was informed not to put the spare om the rear wheels but rather change with the front and put the correct size wheel on the back in case of a flat on either rear wheels.

If this is in the manual then GM will not take any responsibility.

I just checked the owners manual and there is no mention of this whatsoever.

I got around this conundrum by throwing out the 245/70/16 tyre and fitting a 265/70/16 on the spare wheel. The difference in diameter is around 2mm which is nothing in the great scheme of things
