Thread: WinCaps 3.41

    Thumbs up WinCaps 3.41

After months of battling and failed downloads and installations, I've got WinCaps 3.41 installed on my PC.

WinCaps is the Windows based parts system used at your local Mitsu dealer.

It is not the friendliest user interface, but it gets the job done.

You just type your VIN number in and you get the full part system on screen.

I'm still battling to gt the later version (3.51) to work, and will update this if and when I'm successful.

Anybody interested can PM me for an installation CD/DVD.
You pay for postage and CD/DVD.

Unfortunately it's to large for simple download. I've packed it in a ZIP (290Mb) as well as a RAR (226 Mb) archive.

    Disclaimer:

Just to make sure you know that you get the CD 'voetstoots'.
I am not the originator of the software, so I cannot guarantee ANYTHING relating to it.

I don't sell it either (copy rights). I only ask you to reimburse me for my actual costs, which amounts to ±R45-00 per CD.

If you are prepared to take it under those conditions, please PM your Postal address.

I will then provide my banking details to cover my direct costs only (no profit is involved)

    Halleluya...

I never got it to work properly, but I recall there being an issue regarding the older Pajero's with the part numbers not being the same as the actual SA part numbers.

Interesting Those pictures show the exact parts that are being ordered for my Pajero - to replace the companion shaft.

    Hi Simon,

The problem arises with vehicles assembled locally by Samcor as opposed to being fully imported. Affected vehicles would include most Gen 2s and very early (year 2000) Gen 3s. The issue is to extract the correct Mistubishi model code from the Samcor VIN number. The agents have a look-up program to do this. Once you have this, it is possible to use WinCAPS and get the correct part numbers for a particular vehicle. Of course this model code look-up has to be done only once. make friends with the parts guy at your local Mitsu dealer and I am sure he will be happy to give you the correct Mitsu model code for your vehicle.

P.S. I suppose if your Paj never breaks not getting WinCAPS to work is not so much of an issue, hey Simon .

Haha - it's not for mechanical stuff...

I'm slowly replacing cosmetic stuff in the cabin as I have a bit of spare time and cash, so part numbers etc come in very useful... Next on the list is a new centre console.

    Which console looks like yours?
If it is the first, your vehicle name code is V45W, otherwise it is V75W

I think I know, but I'm testing the system.

The V45W or V75W is part of the model code. V2X and V4X is Gen 2 and V7X is Gen 3. Gen 4 is V8X. If I remember correctly, the Samcor VIN contains information about the classification within the model, a code that looks something like GRXMR6.

A model code such as V45WGRXMR6 means:
    V: Pajero
    4: LWB
    5: 6G74 Motor
    W: Wagon (tin top) body
    G: Wide fenders (Flares)
    R: Automatic transmission (4 speed)
    X: GLS
M: Multi Point Fuel Injection, DOHC
    R: Right hand drive
    6: Marketing destination?

Your point is valid, though, Gerhard: It is not necessary to have the Samcor VIN translation done to be able to use WinCAPS.

WinCaps 3.41 could not figure out Simon's VIN number.

It would not be able to, because Simon's vin is a Samcor VIN, but knowing Simon's vehicle spec, I would say that his model code would be something like V45WGRXMR?

It is still possible to use WinCAPS. just double click in the "Vehicle Name Code" box and pic the correct vehicle name (Pajero) from the list in the box that pops up.

Now double click in the "Model" box and pick V45W for a 3.5 LWB.

Finally double click in the "Classification" box and pick the correct code (GRXMR?).

This is what the agents refer to as getting in the back door. You will generally get the correct part if using some common sense, but if you have a VIN that CAPS recognizes, then you can be sure that the part is right for your specific vehicle.

Gerrit, the version you had is 3.41 as well IIRC?

My VIN looks like like this AFABGBP46BR and a series of numbers...

That is a Samcor VIN and would be Greek to WinCAPS.

    Hi guys

Is this also applicable to the Gen 3 / CK Did Pajero?
    Are copies still available?

    Thanks
    Charles

Charles, this version covers the early Gen 3 up to about 2001 if I am not mistaken. I think 4ePajero was volunteering to distribute earlier in this thread.

Charles, mine is a 2003 as well. There are many parts that are common with the 2001 model; WinCAPS will still be useful.
