    Default Swartpan

Hi you all. We are planning an extensive trip for March and April next year and part of our trip would like to go to Swartpan from Polentswa in the KTP. We will be travelling with two 4x4 Fortuners, one twoing an offroad trailer. Which route/road will you recommend? Thanx

Andre, I think there is basically only one route. From Polentswa head north and turn right at Kannagaus towards Kaa gate. From Kaa gate to Sizatswe (not Sesatswe on the Polentswa trail ) and then on to Swartpan.

Thank you Christa. When I asked Mapsource for a route from Polenstwa to Swartpan it showed a route via the R360 to Union's End and then northwards via the western cutline to Swartpan. Maybe another route and hopefully someone used this route and can advise.

That road is definitely off limits, Andre, park management only. As Christa said, only one route in and out.

Yes it is possible. We did this exact trip towing - Polentswa via Kaa Gate then Thupapedi and onto Swart Pan - took us 9 1/2 hrs but then we did stop for an hr or so to watch a Leopard some KM's out of Polentswa and some time talking to Kaa gate officials. No problems just slow due to sharp turns and poor oncoming visibility.
