Our first night is at letshologa and I am just wandering about travelling time. We last did the road from Mabua gate to Tshabong a few years back so I was wondering about the condition of the road.

If you entering and exiting Mabua from the South I would be tempted to do at least one leg via Bokspits and the B211.

What recommendations for entering Mabua from the east (Mafeking side), please? Thanks!

Hi Plod, goeie verslag. Lesholoaga kamp 2 was ons beste. Leeus deur die kamp, Jakkals as waghond, en mooi groot Luiperd by watergat. Was nou ons tweede trip na Mabuas, plan amper weer ons volgende trip terug.

From that side we usually go in Via Bray. It is a short gravel rd to Werda and then right to the Kokotsha cut line, or you can keep on going to Tsabong and the sand rd.

If you need a stop over, Cornwall lodge is over the border and before Werda. Well worth a stay. Rooms or camping.

    Hi
We are going to Mabua on Thursday. Can anybody please report on the water situation at the moment. Is there water available at the gate? We will be at Monamodi for a few days.
Any feedback will be highly appreciated.

Latest trip reports are that Mpaya has an intermittent supply and Leshloago had a supply.

Any experience coming in to Mabua from the north side: off the A2 near Phuduhudu? How is that road? Travel time from the A2 to Mabua gate? Travel time from Tshabong to Mabua gate? Not towing. Many thanks.

We have not done that rd in it's full length but the section going to Jack's pan is deep sand. It's not as well travelled as the other access roads and you will find it rough going I think. Ave 40kmh.

The cut line would in my opinion be a better option. 3 hours taking it easy

The Tsabong road is the easiest. 85 km good gravel, 35 deep sand. 2.5 hours

Every year for the last 15 - 18 years an elderly couple of around 75 years of age camp in an Oz tent under the A frame.
The Oz tent fits perfectly in the A frame as it is also squareISH

Picture a lady 70 something holding up Oz tent poles as the lions are scratching an itch on the tent
Only form of defence is a sound horn (the one in a can)
    AND THE COUPLE LOVE IT

We shared a campsite last year as they had been somehow booked for one night at the gate due to a booking issue.
    Awesome couple from Cape Town.
Cant show pics as I lost her email details so cant ask them.

Thanks for the report,Plod. As we are going there end Oct,i assume, since you have just done both routes, that you advocate using the Tshabong entry route as opposed to the Cutline?

I will let Plod report back on the Cutline.
Coming from P.E. I either do a round trip from Cullinan Guest farm near the border to Tshabong and on to the gate, as above the road is great.
Then we exit via Matopi road to Nossop and twee rivieren.
Or in at TR and Nossop to Mabua. Are you going from P.E. via Kimberly - JHB or Upington ?
Send me your email via PM and I can send you any pictures you want.

I'll be in Mabua last week of September '16: thanks to Stranger's advice, and this trip report, I'll be entering and leaving via Tshabong, but entering Bots at Bray and leaving via McCarthy's. Happy to report back here.
