    Default 255 T0 215? Please advise

    Hi all

I recently bought a Daihatsu Rocky in excellent condition.

It currently wears 245/75R15s on 7J rims

Standard size, according its handbook is 255/70R15

I am considering fitting 215/85R15 to clean up the looks (the 255s looks very wide on the Rocky) and lift it a bit.

I did some digging, and the 215 tyre as said to be the optimal size for a 7J rim.

I am mostly a teerpad adventurer, during the annual holiday, and the odd week-end I will venture off road.

    Please chip in and advise.

    Regards

    Mike

the 215's are actually 0.3% smaller than the 245's.
So it will not lift the rocky.
I think (might be wrong - to lazy to google) that 225 is the narrowest tyre that you can fit to a 7J rim.
personally i would stick to 245. i do not see any benefit to the marie biscuit tyres, besides maybe a wee bit better fuel consumption

215/85r15 does not seem to be very available though. Not even listed on Errol's tyres website.
It is basically same height as the 245/75R15s. I like a 85 profile tyre, so if you can find it go for it.
215 is 8.5" wide, so it should fit on a 7j rim. Would probably work better on a thinner rim, imho.
