    Default Northern Kruger

Starting first night at Letaba x 1, then up to Shingwedzi x 2 to Punda Maria x 2, back to Mopani x 1 and last to Olifants x 2 - anyone been up there lately who can give advice on "specials areas" to visit ?

The mophongolo river loop (Just North of Shingwedzi, the loop to the west of the Tar road), my favourite road in kruger.

Just before Olifants camp is a right turn (gravel road) towards Balule bush camp. We camped at Balule in the June holidays and saw a huge variety of animals incl lions time and again on that road between Olifants and Balule, as well as the roads surrounding Balule.

Your overnight plan is amazing! The marshlands north-east of Mopani has some awesome fauna you don't see too often; side-striped jackal, otters, saddle-billed storks of differing ages, etc.

Just been there... Lots of animals all around Punda. Take any of the loop trails around the area, and especially around Klopperfontein

Klopperfontein between Punda and Pafuri, if there is water. And don't get cornered by the Ellies

And then there is Pafuri (and its devious monkeys)

thats the S56 agree one of the best drives in kruger BUT there are lots of ELEPHANT on that route so beware . Still lots of water around so sightings were good up north. Boyela watering hole 5 kays before Babalala picnic area is good viewing as the Roan antelope use it quite alot . Enjoy !!!!!!!!!

Already down at Olifants, time really flies when you having fun ! The north around Punda was fabulous with game a plenty, yes went to Picnic spot and Crooks Corner. Only place we got cornered by Ellies was Engelhardt from Letaba 😳😳😳 on day two, got boxed in between dam and exit road so just sat tight and waited while they chased a Fortune on road and then ran around a bit, fortunately all action 50m away over slight rise.
Not one camp disappointed, all facilities clean and in working order and an abundance of game and birds - what struck me was how many elephant and large buffalo herds we encountered.
Tomorrow we explore south of Olifants.

We had outstanding 2 weeks in northern Kuger in Nov. We where very lucky to share the first serious rainfalls in this area. Most sightings around Punda - Elefant herds counting hundreds, R525 to crocs corner and the Nyala drive and the very best: at the banks of Engelhard dam - Makhadazi River; opposite to S62. The area around Olifant was deserted, but this might have changed due rainfall during the last weeks.
Some video impressions ( scenes @ the dam taken @ Massingir Dam / MOZ; offroad scenes from Mafunyane 4x4 Eco trail in the north west of Kruger):

Have a safe trip and enjoy the beauty of Kruger
Sitting in cold Germany and counting the days up to August to head up to Mana pools / ZIM

Yes I agree, that Pafuri area is one of our favorites too.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures and video clips.
We will be visiting mainly the central part of Kruger in two weeks time (entering from the south) and have visited many many times before - so know it well.
We are also fans of the northern part.
You will enjoy Mana Pools in Zim. Which other places are you planning to visit there?
Last year we went to Gonarezhou (South East corner of Zimbabwe) with three other vehicles crossing the Limpopo at Pafuri via western Moz into Zim and returning via Beit Bridge.
There are just so many beautiful places to visit in the Southern African region, and so little time ...
