    Default Tunland 4 x 4 Luxury

What a shocker to realise that our Tunland 3 years old with 42000 km on the clock is only worth a full 130,000!!!

And why good riddance (besides for the poor resale)? You always get what you pay for, yet I've only read good things (relative to its cost) about the Tunland...

Is this based on resale or trade in values? I see on Gumtree 2013 models sell for R199,000.

    He paid about R360k.
    So it's 50% of resale.
New vehicles drop fast the first 2 years then gradually that drop levels off.
So he has picked the worst time to sell.

But someone out there is going to pick up an absolute bargain...

As I see it the book value of any vehicle is only a indication to what the retail and trade can be but the final price is tied to what market is doing. Mostly all dealerships look at the trade-in value and offer 50k less for most cars as they need to protect themselves not to sit with stock for a long time and if the dealership don't make at least 40k on a trade-in it's almost not worth it. It's your choice to do the deal or not. A mate of mine bought a Amarok 4motion two years ago new and got offered 310k with 62k on the clock yesterday for a trade on a new Fortuner.....Was a bit sceptic in the beginning of the Tunland but bought one in 2015. Yes not everyone's flavour but has done 40k so far with alot of towing and excitingly surprised with this doublecab. We are getting torn a new one with regards to car prices in SA.It's a lose lose situation.

You were probably smiling broadly the day you bought it knowing that you paid R200k less than a major brand

Well yes with the amount of mileage I do as I use it for work , customers and recreation I cannot see myself paying in excess of 500k and getting 300k less in two years time with high mileage. Call me a cheapskate but I don't see any car as a investment.

    Cool Re: Tunland 4 x 4 Luxury

Got mine for a bargain!! But to me it is worth the same as any other bakkie is South Africa.Still cost less than R250 000 with all Mods included.
Still think it is one of the most underrated bakkies.

    Have to agree with Uitzight.

Have a look at the article, I think it is this month's Leisure Wheels regarding the Tunland on the Hell's Pass.

Value, you get what you pay for, and more, just don't try and sell.

Hi guys sorry to take so long to respond.
I value all your comments good and bad.
The big problem was all the time it had spent in the workshop.
Believe it or not 5 months out of three years and only 42000 on the odo.

At one point even with all the complaints to their Cust Service with very bad respones must add.

The list is too long to mention here.

So yes I am convinced I made the correct decission.

I am now the proud owner of a Limited Edition 2013 Fortuner 4x4 Auto with only 55000 km on the odo.

My bakkie 2014 has 14500.00 km on now,had a t lot of problems but sorted now,I also tried to trade it on a fortuner but was offered 150 000. My settlement currently is 340.000 after 19months. I added a canopy , nudge bar and a service plan. I cant sell it now and loose so much money so I will keep it.I believe that thy are building a Foton plant in PE maybe we will get better service and value later
