Default Fiat Toro SUV to take on Fortuner

    http://www.rushlane.com/fiat-toro-su...-12198247.html

The Fiat Toro SUV, a passenger carrying version of the namesake pickup truck, is reported to be under development. Given that SUVs are well liked across the world, itís only sensible for the Italian automaker to spin off a mid-size SUV based on the quirky pickupís platform.
Autossegredos reports that according to its sources, the company has asked its development team in Brazil to expedite the Toro SUV project.
The Toro SUV is expected to be ready sometime next year (Note: This rendering was created in 2015 and is used for representative purpose only).
The publication also claims that the SUV will be available in 5- and 7-seat variants. The styling from the front end all the way up to B-pillar would remain faithful to the pickup truckís lines.
The interior too expected to be carried forward from the load carrying sibling but one can expect more creature comforts to make it on board the SUV. More details would trickle down as the development progresses. The vehicle is expected to be ready in about a yearís time.
Like the Toro pikcup, the SUV will be powered by the 1.8-litre E.torQ flex fuel engine and 2.0-litr Multijet diesel engines. The former is good for 139 PS on ethanol while the oil burner pumps out a healthy 170 PS. The flex fuel engine is reported to available only in 4◊2 configuration with a 6-speed Aisin automatic gearbox whereas the range-topping diesel can be had either in 4◊2 or 4◊4 configuration, both mated to a ZF 9-speed AT.
The SUV is most likely to inherit its interior design from the pickup.

If at all Fiat plans to bring this car to India in the future, it would lock horns with the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and so on.

Dang... I was hoping for a new Paj Sport-derived (Fullback-based) effort. This is a RAV rival.

Useless if that is the case...The Cherokee has no real ground clearance, need a middle mannetjie graded, go for this...

the renegade already has a Fiat version - the 500X (or , more accurately, the Renegade is built on the Fiat 500X Platform)

I can't say what this one is based on, but possibly the larger Cherokee.

seems I must apologise - it is built on the GM/Fiat small playtform - some difference between the Small Wide 4x4 Platform as used on the Renegade and the Small Wide LWB as used on the Toro.

Still, I must say, it's a very good platform , certainly comfortable and quiet, and a pretty good offroader in 4x4 form.

    Looks damn good either way.
