    Default C180 W203 Irregula Idle

Hi Gents, oh and ladies. If my question has been addressed before, please direct me to the relevant link. I have a 2006 C180 Kompressor Elegance Auto with 123000km. When I start it in the morning, the needle for the rev counter is never stable, it will be moving up and down. If I leave it idling for 5 minutes or more, it then stabilises. What causes this and what do I need to do to correct it?

    Thank you.

Either the carbon filter in the boot, and or the vacuum pipes of the vanos system. They tend to leak because they get hard from the heat. Those cars have only a few issues, the one you are referring to and the timing gears. When the timing gear guide and chain is on its way out ( anything from 50 000 to 250 000 km, ) you will hear a noise on cold start, then it goes away and after a while you will get an engine light. Know that that timing gear guides and chain is on its way out, then it breaks and you need to do valves as well. R25 000 later you go again. On the 204 they have twin chain setup which fixed the problem.

I owned two W203's, both had the carbon filter issue, and one had the vacuumed pipes issue later both had the idling issue. The last one had the Timing gears and chains issue as well. Two friends also had it, it's the cars weak point.
