    Default Amarok External Thermometer: Location?

    Hi all

Can anyone tell me where the Amarok 4Motion's external temperature sensor is located? I find it fairly accurate most times, but while driving slowly (usually in the game reserve) I find that the temperature shown is unrealistically high. Obviously there is a lack of air circulation around the sensor, or it is too close to the road surface, or both, or something else that affects it at low speeds ...

    Just curious.

    Thanks

    Willem

It is located ahead of the radiator, behind the lower front bumper grill.

Facing the vehicle, on the lower right hand side, in the bottom grille.

Weird - my Amarok does exactly the same... I was driving in traffic yesterday and then it just goes up and up - from 21 degrees to 28 degrees in a few minutes. When you start driving it goes down again. Wonder if it is the sensor that is crazy?

Haha. If we all have the same symptoms then it is probably within parameters for the Amarok.

Normal, no :-) My Golf does not do this.

According to the Manual it can show higher temperature due to engine heat at slow speeds.

From my experience it is engine heat, and/or if the sun was shining from the front while stationary.

I think you need constant speed of at least 60 - 80 km/h for some time to get reliable air temperature readings.
And I think that is the case for most vehicles.
