Lusted for a Landy but the Pajero was sexier and bigger in the right departments, just like my Missus.

Yes but - absolute worst case is 6A at 1V = 6W lost. Not a train smash, because even the best diode is also going to be up tp 3W lost.

So a difference of 3W then. That makes a difference of the battery being charged by 12h01 vs 12h00, or an error of 1 deg in the angle placement of the panel ---

I fully agree. My point was really we make a big deal about 20mV on cables and look at the posts around volt drop and here we add 600mV extra for the extra cost of about R12.

6A diodes as pointed out was too low for a 100W panel.

    Update

Well that was easy enough, we put a blanket on a trestle table, put the panel face down on it and it was easy to work on, granted there was two of us. Melted the solder with a solder gun and lifted the old diode out. Cut and bent the legs to fit the existing holes which we cleaned out. Soldered back on. There was two diodes but only one with the broken covering. So we tested and all back to normal.

15 bucks to fix a 1200 buck panel.

Thanks for all the input, everything worked out as it should.
