    Default Buying an engine

Im looking at buying a old series land rover to strip for parts I need to restore a forward control.
My problem is that the original owner passed away and he's family sold the car on to the current owner without papers. I assume it was never scrapped or deregistered properly.

If I get a police clearance on the engine bo will I be able to use it when I register the FC ?

Police clearance here by me in JHB seems to be only on a vehicle not a loose engine. Perhaps take the whole series Landy for clearance then put it in your FC, if it does not clear at least they don't impound your car?
