Default Canopy Kitchen Units *Post Pics* - Ideas/Advice Needed

    Hi all,

I have a DC Amarok and just ordered an RSI Canopy with the kitchen unit. The kitchen unit is obviously only the box so I was wondering how others have gone about fitting it out with the holders/rack for plates, mugs, cutlery, gas stove etc.

    1. I'm hoping to get some ideas and advice for building one so if you have a canopy with kitchen unit on your bakkie please share your pics.

    2. Did you build it yourself or did you have some fitment centre do it for you; and if so, by whom was it done. I'm considering my options; DIY vs. 4x4 Fitment Centre.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Jean

also had the RSI canopy with kitchen unit.

    All of it was DIY.

The kitchen unit comes pre fitted to the canopy - so have to be removed to make it easier to work on.

TIP: get some extra hands to assist when removing the kitchen unit. Same bolts keeping canopy door / hinges in place holds the kitchen unit - so the canopy door will only be held by the gas struts (if not removed)

My kitchen was made to keep the basic stuff we use most during stops.

I have one dedicated ammo box with the pots and pans needed for overnight / longer stays.

I know this is not what you want, but just an idea of what I did. I like to have my 'kitchen' mobile, hate running up and down between the car and where ever I am cooking:

I like what you did with the magnetic scissors and LED lights.

Are the lights sufficient? I would rather do that than have to wire LED lights from the battery.

    Thanks for all the feedback.

@Goeiedag1, nice job I like that, it's exactly what I would like to do except maybe add a gas stove.

Hi. The blue led was used as a "mobile" light. If you look closely- I did wire a led from the second battery - not so difficult to do.

But the blue one provided sufficient light.

    Cool - thanks.

I preferred to keep all flames away from the carpet in the 'kitchen' - and kept it mobile to use where ever needed.

Hi Jean, here are two pics of the "kitchen" that I built into the Isuzu that I had, I will be doing a similar design to my Ranger.

    Here's my setup.

Very rarely use the stove to cook on (mainly a moer pot) and is mainly for storage

Just picked up my Hilux D/C legend 45 yesterday. It has the RSI canopy on the back but no kitchen unit. We planning a Bots trip next year, is the R13000 worth the money for the kitchen unit??

In my opinion itís a crazy amount of money for really the absolute minimum that is required. You can do a diy for far less and have far more. Itís been a while since Iíve posted on this thread, our vehicle and setup has changed quite drastically since then:
