Default Vision Deep Cycle 100Ah 12V Fully Sealed AGM 6fm100p-x Battery

Hi all, has anyone used or had any experience with these Vision AGM batteries?

Deep Cycle 100Ah 12V Fully Sealed

    6FM100P-X

There are a few stores selling them below R2,000.00, it seems very similar to the Ritar AGM but spec sheet states it's 50% DOD duty cycle seems to be better than the Ritar (1200 vs 800 of the Ritar) but not quite as good as the Omnipower.

No experience with it, but judging from the spec sheet it is not a fully sealed battery.

It is a type VRSLA (Valve Regulated Sealed Lead Acid) AGM battery. No recombination of gases is provided for, so you should avoid overcharging it and also avoid doing 'recovery' or 'equalization' charges on it.

Where can you buy them from?

Hi Eggie, mainly computer stores and Mecer South Africa is the distributor, i have an account with Mecer so i can get this battery at a very good price.

Here is one of the stores supplying it:

    http://www.laptopdirect.co.za/Vision...X-p-128249.php

Mecer is now playing in the solar area so this seems to be battery brand they stock for their Solar setup's.

They stock the 100ah and the 200ah unit

But i cant seem to find much about the unit except this is the Pure Lead series with deep cycle abilities but they also have a dedicated Deep cycle range which i don't think we get here in S.A.

I am in the market for an AGM battery and considering the Omnipower unit, does the Omnipower unit cater for recombination of gases?

I cant see that stated anywhere on their spec sheet?

I just came across this Vision battery when at Mecer the other day, i saw them carting in hundreds of these units. Do you think i should just stick to well known brands?

I really like the Omnipower unit but its inability to be used as a crank battery is a negative, do you know if the Ritar has cranking amp abilities?

I know the Discover does this but the price of that battery is a bit steep at the moment

    Thanks Eggie

I honestly see no reason why this battery could not be used for cranking.
It is an AGM type with a (5 sec) current capability of up to 900A.

In the RV and 4x4 world we usually use our 2nd batteries to supplement starting and then the current requirement is a shared situation which is easier still.

Don't be put off by the fact that overcharging will kill this Vision battery.
Gel batteries are even more susceptible to damage through overcharging, but yet they are used in UPS's and solar installations. The charging regime just needs to be well controlled (as it should anyway).

Thanks Eggie, I was referring to the Omnipower which i was told by Sinetech that it cannot or should not be used to start a car. This is a concern so that's why I started looking around and I found this Vision battery.

I dont have much experience with batteries, do you think this Vision is worth a try or should I rather just go with the Omnipower?

Please could you explain something to me, why do some batteries show @20ah and others @10ah, I assume it's got to do with the rate of discharge but I don't completely understand why they list these differently.

It is just a manufacturer's way of drawing up a specification. Some will provide both the 10h and 20h specs. The difference is always in favour of the 20h version, but not that big.

The Vision: - I have no idea how they will perform, but it is an AGM and it seems you can get it for a good price, so... your money, your call.

Hi Eggie, I found this spec sheet for the Vision battery, it does state a capability to release gases in the event of overcharge. This Vision battery apparently also has a higher operating temperature range due to the Pure Lead components apparently, up to 60 degrees. Do think think this is beneficial at all?

The rechargeable batteries are lead-lead dioxide systems. The dilute sulfuric acid electrolyte is absorbed by separators and plates and thus immobilized. Should the battery be accidentally overcharged producing hydrogen and oxygen, special oneway valves allow the gases to escape thus avoiding excessive pressure build-up.

Otherwise, the battery is completely sealed and is, therefore, maintenance-free, leak proof and usable in any position

I have 2 Vision 200Ah batteries (HF Series)

They were decommissioned by one of the Cell Companies.

I charged them in January and disconnected. They did some light duty (pun intended) since January, but never recharged. Beginning this week both were still at 12.7V

These are the typical characteristics of an AGM battery.
I do believe it will serve you well, and worthwhile going the distance with them.
Unlike normal flooded deep cycle batteries, they are quicker and easier to recover after a really deep discharge.

    Reviving and old thread.

I bought two of these from gabriel at batteriesonline to fit in my echo 2 trailer but they are too big for the battery tray.

they are brand new and for sale in the classifieds section

I bought similar black case no name 100ah battery last week at a China shop in Windhoek for N$900.00, 6FM-100 _ (VRLA ) for 'energy storage battery'! Did not check if its indeed an AGM. No other 100, 102 or 105 batteries comply with the height restriction in my caravan's battery box. So far it behaves very good.

The seller's comment was 'veli gudu, can last 4 years'. There is even a manual in the box with the battery how to use it etc.
