You need to fit a pipe to the control valve part which is not a regulator, of which the fitting is a standard gas pipe fitting, and then you may want to fit a regulator at the gas bottle end. Below you will find pictures showing the set-up on my two Webers. The Q2000's sits on the gas bottle, wheras the Q1200's regulator sits in-line at the top.

I am battling to get a gas shop that can do the conversion. Please give me details of the one that did it for you. You can SMS me on 0829072308

It is the same as the pipe supplied with the Safari Chef so ask them to look in a box for an example.

    Very much like this.

I need the opinions of the Q owners. For a family of 4 where this braai will be used at home at least 90% of the time, I guess the 2200 will be the better size more so than the 1200?

It depends, I suppose, on your appetites. As a family of 4 we use the Q1200 without to much issue. Pizza becomes a problem though!

I have my mind made up on the Q2200 with stand, but this is extremely tempting at R2,400

The lack of thermometer on the Q1000 is a big issue and I would fight the urge if I was you.8)

Was thinking that same thing yes and even the higher lid. Plus I know I want the bit bigger one and I cannot come up with a better solution than the weber custom stand as well that comes with them.

The Q2000 is quit a bit larger than the Q1000.
Then the Q2200 has a higher lid and the thermometer.

I have a Q1200 with the higher lid and thermometer which definitively is worth the additional cost.

    For 4 people I will definately choose the Q 2200 ,
We have the Q1200 , for two of us it is mostly satisfactory , but braaing for four it gets a little bit to small , temperature drops to much with full load when high temerature is needed
Kloppers always have reasonable prices on the Weber's

R6,000 for me. If only it was removable from the stand. 2200 is still the pick for me I think

I have both the Q 1200 and the Q 2200. If it was not used for camping I would only have had the Q 2200, which is too big to cart around. Please stay away from a Q without a thermometer. You will kick yourself later, since you are absolutely limited in what you can do with it. A trivet is a must, and indirect cooking is the way to bake.
