Reliability and old cars seldom go together. Why not rather go for a 3.0L V6 1994 to 1996 Pajero, Im sure you will get in that price range. To take a 64 Land Rover or SJ ot Nam and Bots wont be fun. rather spend a bit more on fuel, that possible costly repairs on a TD. those 2.5TD engines are very old and parts are becoming a problem. With a SJ you wont see 90kmph if loaded, and consumption will suck as well. Even consider Jeep Xj 4.0L as well. if you don't use the car fuel isn't a problem(if you have a daily driver like you do). Thing is packing space is of bog importance when over landing.

I think you have it spot on. My Gen 2.5 Pajero was a gem. I prefer petrol and those 3 L and 3.5 motors just keep going if you maintain them.

I had a queue for mine at 280 000 plus KMs. Took me 2 days to sell it. If you can find one similar that's the one to buy.

Just a comment that was passed to me. We were at Bundu Tec getting our Bundu fitted and a guy rocks up in a late model Hi Lux. As we were chatting he said he wished he had gone the route we had as opposed to a new vehicle. He reckons the Pajero was so much more comfortable than the Hi lux
Lusted for a Landy but the Pajero was sexier and bigger in the right departments, just like my Missus.
