Default Namibia camping trip March April 2016

We have just returned from a 14 day camping trip in Namibia, (March April 2016) 5380km traveled, 836 liter 50ppm diesel, avg price (Namibia and ZA) was about R9.80. I was towing a Sprite tourer SW. Empty its 1150kg, we were 3 adults and luggage, I am guessing caravan GVM was 1350 and 550kg on the double cab. Anything between 80 and 130 km per hr, tar and gravel. Included about 500km of 4x4 in Henties sand. (the fishing was poor) Avg consumption over the whole trip 6.4 km per liter. The Toyota has 156000km on the clock. It has never given a days trouble. Just for interest sake, cost's, diesel R8192, campsites R4550, food beer etc R5600, Nam car tax R400, extras R1000, total R19742,this for three adults. Included a few photos

    Hi,
    Thank's for your thread.
Looks like you had a good trip.
We're doing our first Namibia trip (21 days) leaving CT middle of May.
Going straight up ( with stop overs) to Etosha and then coming back via Walvis Bay, Sesriem and Aus.
What I can see from your pictures it looks like you were in Aus.
Did you by any chance travel the gravel roads from Walvis Bay to Aus ( C15, C19, C13 ), and if so, do you think it was ok, not too much damage to the car and caravan ?
We're pulling a Bush Lapa and the conditions of the gravel roads are a concern.
We would be very grateful for any feedback or tips.

Normally the C roads in Nam is very good and should be no problems for the caravan as its build to take that roads.

My Landie hou net aan loop...

Sorry for the late reply, We hauled a gravel roader (Sprite tourer SW)over those roads, drop your tyre pressure, secure everything in the van, take it easy and you will be 100%. Namibia gravel roads are like highways compared to what is the norm in the Eastern Cape. Enjoy
