    Question KJ 3.7 Engine Service

    Hi All KJ 3.7 owners

So it is time for a 120 000 Km service. I service the Jeep at 10k intervals...just easier to remember to do it than the recommended 12k intervals.

Will do the normal air filter, spark plug, oil filter and oil change. The air filter and oil filter is a no brainer...any good GUD or the like will do. I did the previous services at an Indy and he used Castrol Full Synthetic...I am not a fan as I heard that sludge build up is a problem?

    Any recommendations on the oil?

Any recommendations on the spark plugs...is it worth it to buy multi point spark plugs, or any other fancier plugs?

Anything else that needs to be checked at around 120k KM's?

    Thanks for any feedback...

    Good Morning

I swear by Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 oil in my Petrol vehicles.

BUT, you need to know the viscosity of the Castrol that was used.

    Kind Regards

Do you still have your service manual to see what need to be checked and done?
I believe you cannot go back to the synthetic/bio type oil once you have used the full synthetic oil in the engine.
Spark plugs are debatable, just use the correct heat range, I normally look at the price to decide if it is a good spark plug.

Cool Re: KJ 3.7 Engine Service

I'll stick to full synthetic as I think it is superior to mineral based anyway...read lots of articles around this. Shell Helix is at the top of the list at the moment, unless there is good reason to go with another.

And its time for another service...sitting at 130k. Not gonna service it myself this time around, as I need a few other things to be done as well.

I dont see Bulli (Andre) being very active on the forum of late. Anyone else in the Pretoria that will do a good job. Got a leak on the gearbox that needs attention as well.

    Cheers,

    Dean

    Not active but still active

    You have a 2005.
Oil for that will be a 5w20. Available at any goldwagen that sells Liqui Moly.
All filters are available at midas, naskar or the like.

Agree with Bulli. Liqui Moly 5W20. Also try Auto Zone. Use NGK plugs.
