    Default Camping at Umlalazi

Can anybody please assist. I have been spending hours on the tel to try and make a bookings at KZN wildlife. Nobody answers tel and by now I know everything about 1 litre of water. When I try and book on line it just stops at a certain point and nothing works. Is there another mail address or tel number that I can try , that is not on all pamphlets ?? I have called the camp but they also refer me back to national booking system. Last but not least, has anybody camped there before

    Hi Johan

Yes, we camped at Umlalazi in January this year. It was after the Christmas rush and the campsites were quiet. We didn't pre-book as we are only 2 hours away so could have driven home had the camps been full.

I phoned the office/reception at the campsite and they had told me that the camps were quiet. If I were you I would do this too and not bother to book, as long as it's not during the school holiday when it gets quite busy.

There are two campsites, neither on the beach or lagoon but it's not too far. We were allowed to drive in and have a look and choose our campsite before we paid. The campsite which forks to the right after the entrance is the nicer. Grass stands and bigger area. Can't remember the name!

Ablutions were good. Staff friendly and helpful. Great beach walks and swimming. Also several hikes through the forest/mangroves. Good beach fishing too!

Pls feel free to pm me if you have any other questions.

    Cheers

    Sarah

    Hi

    Try these:

    Telephone and fax numbers: 033 845 1000 : 845 1071/75 : 845 1001
Address for bookings: Central Camping Reservations, P O Box 13069, Cascades, 3202 or, Email: [email protected]

Inkwazi camp on the right is the better camp although not many trees, the camp towards the river is very protected with trees but not as flat or grassy

    Very very nice town.

Koos Best on the forum lives there, he might also be able to help

    Anybody camp here recently?
    Ablutions in a decent state?

Am thinking of trying it for an impromptu weekend trip sometime soon. Ngoye Forest will then also be earmarked for a morning trip.
